Following the resignation of Andrew Grieve, there now exists an opportunity for you to serve your local community! See our homepage for more details.
Unity Brew House are just down the road from us at Stocks Farm, and they brew the most wonderful ales including Buckeye Session Bitter, Sebright Golden Ale, Silkie Amber Ale, Frizzle British IPA and Pheonix Porter. We are proud to stock their range of bottled ales, so do pop in and buy plenty!
To stave off the cold and further serve the ever demanding needs of our customers, we have procured a Nescafe and Go drinks machine. You can now have a latte, cappucino, tea, tomato soup, mushroom soup, Pot Noodle and hot chocolate instantly, without having to wait for a kettle to boil. So keep yourself warm and treat yourself to a lovely delicious cup of comfortness.
Yes! We were interviewed by BBC H&W at 06:45 this morning about the Christmas lights, and the interview was broadcast at 07:45, just as I stopped in the carpark at Bookers to do the weekly shop. The interview went well (I think!) and we're on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pg/bbcherefordandworcester/videos/?ref=page_internal, the video titled "Fairy lights, inflatable Santas and reindeer". Enjoy!
Totally surreal, a photo of Julian in front of the Post Office proudly occupies the front page of Friday 16th December edition of Malvern Gazette. Wow!
We've made it into the Malvern Gazette! Our lights are so bright even the newspapers have noticed! Click www.malverngazette.co.uk/news/14965256.Post_office_brings_a_Christmas_glow_to_Suckley/
Back in November (yes, it's been a while since my last post), with the able assistance of his brothers, Julian installed this year's Christmas light display at Suckley Post Office. The result is a lovely bright glow that can be seen from the bottom of Birchwood, and as you drive round the corner into Longley Green a brilliant multicoloured glow awaits. Drive past the spectacular 5000 LED light display and awe at the beautiful arrangement of festive colour.
We've been used in a customer review by AirPOS, whom we used for our first ePOS system when we took over the Post Office and store back in March 2015 (is it really that long ago?). It is a good system and it got us off the ground and into the world of ePOS systems. We've now loved to Vend, simply because it had better reporting that served our needs, but AirPOS will always have a warm place in our hearts.
We'll be in attendance at Suckley church with a specially thrown-together stall selling all sorts of things you always wanted to have but never could get hold of. Please come along and support us. It's at Suckley Church and everyone will be there. 3 pm til 9 pm.
I've added a page to inform our readers about our collections for charity, which our customers generously give to. Click here for the page.
I've added a new page about the Worcestershire Way. It passes right by the Post Office, so it's important to show our walker readers how the route ebbs and flows through our beautiful English countryside. The page has a number of useful maps that takes you all the way from the start at Bewdley to Hollybush where the route ends. Click here for the page.
As promised, Western Power Distribution supplied us with a generator to keep the Post Office and shop open while they cut mains power to part of Suckley for tree chopping activities by the high voltage overhead lines. The generator bravely powered several fridges, freezers, the Post Office system and the EPOS, but it couldn't cope with the kettle or the aircon, so we just had to make do. But in true British Stiff Upper Lip style, we coped.
Everything is back to normal now.
We now have a page for Parish news! You can now keep up-to-date with your favourite parish and never be out of the knowing loop again.
See here for the fabulous news page.
Our website just keeps getting better and more useful by the day! I've now added a local news feed from Worcester News and a local weather forecast from the Met Office to the home page dashboard.
So now you'll always know what's going on and what's happening up in the sky.
We now have a new sign outside to better show walkers & drivers that we're here and also what we can do for you. Please feel free to visit and take a photo (there's no charge for taking photos) or even take a selfie with our new poster. Queues may form of people wishing to visit the sign over the bank holiday, so please be patient if you have to wait.
We now have a fantastic new tri-fold leaflet just waiting for you to pick up in store. The leaflet is full of useful information about our services, and is the must-have accessory for your handbag or manbag, to be kept with you at all times (just in case).
Pop in to pick up yours, and don't be embarrassed if you need more than one. After all, better to have too many than too few. Pin one to your fridge and keep one in the Little Boys Room for occasional reading. It's better than any novel and a great focus for discussion at coffee mornings or down the pub.
There's also a new page about our dry cleaning & repair service. Although we don't personally do the servicing, we do use Priory Dry Cleaners, who specialise in that sort of thing. Click here to see the new page.
As we continue to expand our range of gluten-free products, we now stock:
Air Conditioning is now keeping the shop at a lovely mild temperature, and the timing couldn't have been better as the country basks in a heatwave. It'll also help to keep the shop fridges and freezers running efficiently.
Big thumbs up as well to Young Air, who fitted the system with the minimum of fuss and worked marvellously to ensure the shop could remain open whilst they carried out the work.
Notice is hereby given that we're having air conditioning installed on Wednesday 4th May. For safety reasons, we will section off part of the shop whilst internal works are undertaken. This will prevent access to some products for our wonderful customers, but we will be able to get any product you cannot access. Just ask at the counter. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
Once installed, the shop will be maintained at a pleasant ambient temperature, no matter how hot it gets outside.
It's that time again when another bank holiday descends upon us. Since we are very hard working and always here to serve our customers, we will be taking the opportunity to recharge batteries on that day so that we are once more in the peak of condition to be of service on Tuesday 3rd May.
We are now authorised to accept Healthy Start vouchers.
If you are pregnant or have a child under four years old you could get Healthy Start vouchers to help buy some basic foods. This important means-tested scheme provides vouchers to spend with local retailers.
The vouchers can be spent on:
We now stock handy 5 litre containers of ready mixed screen wash, as well as de-icer (although maybe that won't be needed til next winter now..)
Don't forget to check out our range of herbs and spices as well here to spice up your dinners.
By popular demand, we now have a new Lottery page so that you can quickly see what the next jackpots are for the Euromillions and Lotto, and also see what the last draws' numbers were.
We're currently working on a page that'll tell you what the winning numbers will be for the next draws, so keep checking our lottery page regularly.
Royal Mail prices increase from March 29th 2016. 1st and 2nd class stamps increase by 1p, so it's still great value for money and a lot cheaper than driving to John O'Groats or flying to Belfast to personally deliver your important letter.
In response to requests from our fantastic customers, we now have a full range of Schwartz herbs and spices, so you never need be without that vital cooking ingredient to add an extra va-va-voom to your curries and casseroles.
